Colorado is shifting starting quarterbacks ahead of its upcoming contest against Texas Tech, moving away from Julian Lewis and handing the job to junior transfer Isaac Wilson. Wilson earned the promotion following a relief appearance in a 23-13 defeat to Baylor, where he threw for 156 yards and a touchdown on 12-of-20 passing.
Head coach Deion Sanders has officially confirmed the switch, with Wilson taking all first-team practice reps this week.
Prior to arriving in Boulder, Wilson gained valuable college experience at Utah during the 2024 campaign, appearing in 12 contests and making seven starts. Now, he faces a stern test in his first start for the Buffaloes against a twelfth-ranked Texas Tech squad, bringing a fresh skill set to the offense after replacing Lewis under center.
