Washington safety Tyler Owens produced an extraordinary defensive stop during a special teams sequence against Philadelphia, maneuvering through would-be blockers to level return specialist Will Shipley with a powerful hit. Despite Owens delivering what is being hailed as an early candidate for highlight of the year, the Commanders were edged out by the Eagles 24-22 in a tightly contested Week 1 matchup.

The contest featured a critical fourth-quarter, 12-yard touchdown grab from Jayden Daniels to Stefon Diggs that trimmed the deficit to 17-15, though Diggs later drew a damaging penalty, and head coach Dan Quinn saw a subsequent two-point try come up empty.
