The URC talking points as Wales hopefuls impress

Cardiff and the Dragons have established themselves as early frontrunners in the United Rugby Championship by securing victories in their opening two matches. Meanwhile, fellow Welsh participants Scarlets and Ospreys find themselves struggling at the bottom of the standings following consecutive losses.

The Dragons managed to secure a derby victory against Scarlets at Rodney Parade, displaying improved resilience under head coach Filo Tiatia compared to their struggles last season. Conversely, Scarlets director of rugby Nigel Davies pointed to recurring defensive vulnerabilities, including difficulties defending driving line-outs and disciplinary issues that culminated in a yellow card for captain Josh Macleod.
