Steelers trade CB Joey Porter Jr. to Cowboys after failed contract negotiations

The Dallas Cowboys are completing a transaction to acquire cornerback Joey Porter Jr. from the Pittsburgh Steelers following a breakdown in contract extension discussions.

The front office in Pittsburgh declined to offer a top-tier market deal as the defensive back enters the final season of his rookie contract, which factored into his absence during the team's opening victory against the Atlanta Falcons. Porter entered the league as a second-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, going 32nd overall after a tampering penalty stripped Miami of their selection.

Over his professional tenure, the defender has accumulated 165 combined tackles, three interceptions, and 31 passes defended across multiple campaigns.
