The Pittsburgh Steelers’ draft scouting team expanded its focus on elite quarterback prospects this week, attending two high-profile college games to evaluate the 2027 draft class. In Austin, Texas, they observed No.
2 overall prospect Arch Manning, the Texas Longhorns’ signal-caller, leading his team against Florida. Meanwhile, in Bloomington, Indiana, scouts watched Ohio State’s Julian Sayin, currently ranked No.
50 overall, despite sharing the spotlight with star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith. The Steelers had already scouted USC’s Jayden Maiava (No.
61) and UCLA’s Nico Iamaleava (No. 144) in Week 6, with Iamaleava suffering a season-ending injury.
Oregon’s backup Dylan Raiola (No. 129) also drew attention, as starter Dante Moore (No.
6) remains out with a concussion. With five of the top eight quarterbacks now under their microscope, the Steelers are aggressively tracking the position’s most promising talents ahead of next year’s draft.
Beyond quarterbacks, the Ohio State-Indiana game featured two more top-tier wide receivers: Indiana’s Nick Marsh and Charlie Becker. The Steelers’ scouts also took in other high-profile prospects, including Texas’ edge rusher Colin Simmons (No.
3) and offensive tackle Trevor Goosby (No. 9).
With multiple draft-eligible standouts on display, the team’s evaluation process continues to prioritize both positional depth and long-term potential.
