Texas football received a much-needed spark Saturday when running back Ryan Niblett delivered a game-changing 63-yard punt return for a touchdown against Florida, giving the No. 7 Longhorns a 17-3 lead after a sluggish first half from quarterback Arch Manning.
Niblett’s explosive play—his first touchdown of 2026 and third career punt-return score—came after Manning managed just 68 passing yards on 8-of-12 attempts, with no touchdowns or interceptions, while also rushing for just eight yards on three carries. The score tied a Texas program record and provided the only offensive highlight for a Texas offense that had managed only one touchdown through the first quarter, a 32-yard run by Raleek Brown.
With Florida cutting the deficit to 17-10 before halftime, Niblett’s return became the defining moment of the game’s opening frame, offering a rare bright spot amid Manning’s struggles to generate explosive plays against a stifling Gators defense.
