Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Xavi Simons has taken a step beyond his footballing career by enrolling in Harvard University’s Crossover into Business program, designed to help professional athletes develop business acumen alongside their athletic pursuits. The 23-year-old Dutch playmaker, currently recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament injury suffered in April that sidelined him from the World Cup, will participate in the online course, which pairs athletes with Harvard MBA students for mentorship in enterprise management and case studies.
Simons, who recently visited Harvard’s Boston campus to accelerate his rehabilitation, emphasized that returning to full fitness remains his top priority, but he is also using this period to broaden his skill set. The initiative has previously welcomed athletes from the NBA, NFL, and tennis, including former world No.
1 Victoria Azarenka, while Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga and even Sir Alex Ferguson have engaged with Harvard’s sports-related academic programs in the past.
