Sporticast: Why Do NHL Season, MLB Playoffs Start on Same Day?

The latest episode of Sporticast examines a crowded sports calendar featuring concurrent openings for the NHL regular season, MLB postseason, and WNBA playoff games. Hosts Scott Soshnick and Eben Novy-Williams break down how fans of rival franchises in New York and Boston face scheduling conflicts between baseball and hockey matchups on Tuesday night.

Additional discussion covers the financial valuation of the Islanders, private equity influences on baseball, and marketing opportunities for the Florida Panthers.

Moving beyond North American leagues, the program reviews an NFL matchup hosted in Rio de Janeiro. The Baltimore Ravens defeated the Dallas Cowboys following a sixty-five point offensive display at Maracanã Stadium, easing prior concerns regarding field conditions.
