South Africa has included fast bowler Anrich Nortje in their provisional eighteen-man squad ahead of the upcoming Test series against the touring Australian squad. Proteas head coach Shukri Conrad explained that discussions regarding red-ball availability had been ongoing since the previous T20 World Cup, providing an opportunity to integrate the pacer early.
Although Nortje has not featured in a Test or first-class fixture for three years, management values his express pace and extensive experience amid a series of injury concerns. Selectors were forced to leave out seamers Lungi Ngidi, Ottneil Baartman, and Kwena Maphaka due to hamstring problems.
Team staff will closely evaluate Nortje's workloads during training sessions alongside his personal tracking spreadsheets before finalizing the playing eleven.
