Indian skipper Shubman Gill etched his name into the record books on Wednesday during the second one-day international against the West Indies by capturing a pair of major milestones. Operating alongside Rohit Sharma while chasing a target of 406 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, the opening batter reached 2,000 runs in home territory faster than anyone else in history, doing so in only 33 innings to eclipse Desmond Haynes.
In the same fixture, Gill also became the fastest player ever to accumulate 3,500 runs in the format, surpassing Hashim Amla by claiming the record in 68 innings.
