Indian T20I captain Shreyas Iyer has advised teenage batting prospect Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to remain patient as he awaits a regular spot in the national lineup. Iyer emphasized that the current opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson, who were instrumental in the team's recent World Cup victory, have earned their positions through consistent performance.
Although Sooryavanshi has been part of the squad for tours in England and Ireland, he has only appeared in eight of the 21 T20Is played this year. The youngster showed flashes of his potential during the Asian Games, where he accumulated 53 runs across two innings at a strike rate of 176.66.
Despite this, Iyer maintains that the teenager must focus on his development and wait for his turn while the established openers continue to deliver for the side.
