The Philadelphia 76ers spoiled the New York Knicks' championship celebration at Madison Square Garden, winning 106-100 on Tuesday. The victory was fueled by a strong performance from Tyrese Maxey, who was the most effective player on the court for most of the game.
He worked with a slimmer Joel Embiid to dismantle the Knicks' defensive pressure.
New additions Jaylen Brown, who joined Philadelphia via a trade from Boston, and LeBron James helped create space for VJ Edgecombe. Brown contributed 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in his debut.
Edgecombe benefited from the gravity of the stars, finding open looks at the rim, which he expressed satisfaction with after the game.
