Shreyas Iyer on verge of breaking Rohit Sharma's unique T20I captaincy record

Shreyas Iyer is poised to surpass Rohit Sharma's record for most T20I runs in a single calendar year as captain during the upcoming match against New Zealand. Iyer currently sits at 632 runs and requires 25 more to exceed the 656-run benchmark set by Rohit in 2022.

Additionally, Iyer is chasing Babar Azam's global record of 1,225 runs as captain across all T20 formats in a single year, needing 96 runs to claim that milestone. Meanwhile, India faces a roster change as Ishan Kishan is sidelined by a right adductor strain sustained in the previous game.

This injury may provide an opportunity for 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to earn his senior international debut.
