Seahawks say Sam Darnold has ‘very unique soft-tissue’ injury

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold exited early during his squad's 13-10 victory against the New England Patriots in their season opener. Hurt on the opening possession, he was sidelined for the remainder of the contest, with early medical reviews raising alarm over a potential hip socket fracture.

Fears of that severe break have since shifted toward what the club describes as a highly unusual soft-tissue problem involving his buttock. Darnold is now consulting four separate specialists to obtain additional medical opinions regarding the condition.
