Cristiano Ronaldo has issued a detailed explanation regarding his recent departure from the Portugal national team camp. The veteran forward cited a breach of trust by head coach Jorge Jesus, claiming the manager failed to honor a prior agreement regarding his playing time during the Nations League fixtures.
Ronaldo, who has 146 goals in 234 international appearances, apologized to his teammates and the public while confirming his intention to remain available for future selection once any disciplinary measures are concluded.
Despite the friction, the Al Nassr player expressed a desire to continue competing for his country rather than focusing on ceremonial farewells. While he maintains that he never interfered with tactical decisions, he chose to leave the squad following the 2-1 victory over Norway on September 27 after being left on the bench.
Jorge Jesus has since disputed the existence of any prior agreement regarding the player's fitness management, though he has not ruled out a potential return for the forward.
