Minnesota outfielder Byron Buxton is currently tackling a lengthy winter recovery period following a recent surgical procedure to correct a persistent impingement in his right hip. After multiple attempts to play through the issue resulted in repeated injured list stints, he ultimately opted for the arthroscopic operation earlier this month and immediately initiated physical therapy the next day.
While he is currently restricted to crutches and taking the recovery process day by day without a fixed return timeline, Buxton reported that the procedure went well and produced less pain than anticipated. He expects to transition away from crutches within the next few days as he progressively builds toward regaining full mobility and working his way back for the 2027 campaign.
