Powered by a standout performance from DeSean Bishop, the Tennessee Volunteers secured a 24-14 victory against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday afternoon to capture their initial conference win of the 2026 campaign. Bishop carried the ball 34 times, totaling 220 rushing yards and three touchdowns, marking the first time a Tennessee running back has crossed the 200-yard threshold since 2019.
After Faizon Brandon struggled early and exited the contest, George MacIntyre stepped in at quarterback to complete 8 of 10 passing attempts for 86 yards. Defensive contributions were led by safety Dejuan Lane, who recorded nine combined tackles, two sacks, 2.5 tackles for loss, and an interception that he returned 32 yards.
Auburn kept the contest competitive behind quarterback Byrum Brown, whose rushing efforts helped the Tigers stay within striking distance before a late interception by Tevis Metcalf near the goal line secured the outcome for the hosts. Brown accounted for Auburn's scores, including a seven-yard touchdown run in the first half and a 16-yard touchdown pass following a 57-yard rush.
With the hard-earned triumph now secured, the Volunteers look ahead to an away matchup against Arkansas next Saturday.
