Ravichandran Ashwin has expressed reservations regarding the velocity of Bhuvneshwar Kumar following the pacer's recent struggles in the second T20I against New Zealand. Despite India securing a victory in Christchurch, Kumar conceded 50 runs during his four-over spell, managing only a single wicket.
Ashwin emphasized that while the veteran maintains his ability to swing the ball, he must consistently hit speeds between 134 and 136 kph to remain effective against international lineups. This performance follows a difficult start to the series, where the bowler gave up 49 runs without a wicket in the opening match.
Kumar, who earned his national recall after strong performances for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, currently ranks seventh on India's all-time T20I wicket-taking list with 91 dismissals. He will look to regain his form in the upcoming third match of the series in Wellington.
