Entering the 2026 campaign with hopes that veteran pitcher Michael Lorenzen could deliver reliable middle-rotation innings for the Colorado Rockies, the team instead watched his performance deteriorate rapidly. Across twenty-six appearances and twenty-five starts in Colorado, Lorenzen struggled to a 3-11 record alongside an elevated 7.08 ERA and 1.88 WHIP before being designated for assignment in mid-August.
Following his release, he caught on with the Toronto Blue Jays, where he made six relief appearances and surrendered eleven earned runs over eleven and two-thirds frames for an 8.49 ERA. His difficulties culminated in a -1.7 rWAR total for the year.
