RANJI TROPHY | Lad to the fore as Mumbai weathers early inroads by Chandigarh

Mumbai captain Siddhesh Lad anchored his side on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy campaign, finishing unbeaten on 80 as the hosts reached 249 for five against Chandigarh. After Chandigarh captain Manan Vohra opted to bowl first, Jagjit Singh Sandhu quickly dismissed Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck.

Ayush Mhatre contributed 48 before falling to Rohit Dhanda, while Musheer Khan added 65 to stabilize the innings. Despite a late-session collapse triggered by Dhanda and Nishunk Birla, Lad remained steady to guide Mumbai through the day at Wankhede Stadium.
