Nick Saban praises Jalen Hurts while explaining 2018 CFP championship QB controversy

Nick Saban reflected on his storied coaching career in a recent ESPN docuseries, offering rare insights into some of his most controversial decisions. Among the revelations was his candid admission about the 2018 College Football Playoff championship controversy, where he addressed his handling of quarterback Jalen Hurts during Alabama’s national title run.

The six-part series also highlighted Saban’s puzzlement over college football traditions, including his confusion about the meaning of 'Roll Tide,' a longstanding Alabama rallying cry. Beyond the on-field drama, the documentary explored Saban’s deep relationships with former players, including Hurts, who has maintained a strong connection to the Alabama program despite his NFL success with the Philadelphia Eagles.

The series, featuring over 70 interviews, underscores Saban’s enduring legacy as one of college football’s most dominant coaches, with seven national championships under his belt, including six at Alabama.
