Abhishek Sharma set a new benchmark for efficiency in international T20 cricket by reaching the 2,000-run milestone in only 1,024 deliveries. This achievement eclipsed the previous record of 1,164 balls held by Suryakumar Yadav.
During the third match against the West Indies, the 26-year-old also produced a rapid half-century off 18 balls. He eventually concluded his innings with 69 runs from 30 balls, featuring five sixes and six fours, before being caught and bowled by Shamar Springer.
Following the early exit of Sanju Samson, Abhishek partnered with Ishan Kishan to add 108 runs, with the duo contributing a 50-run stand in just 20 balls. Roston Chase eventually ended the partnership by removing Kishan for 37.
The West Indies bowlers, including Shamar Joseph, struggled to contain the scoring pace throughout the early stages of the match.
