India and West Indies Prepare for Fifth T20I at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

By Abhinav Earnest · October 11, 2026

Series Context and Venue Conditions

The fifth and final T20I between India and the West Indies is set to take place on Saturday, 17 October 2026, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, with play commencing at 7:00 PM IST.

The playing surface at the venue is widely recognized for flatter pitches, short boundary dimensions, and a fast outfield that favor batters.

Historically, the Bengaluru venue has witnessed very high scoring in the format. The highest team total in a T20I at the ground is 212/4, made by India against Afghanistan in 2024.

Across overall T20 cricket, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the ground on 15 April 2024, which stands as the highest team total at the venue. That fixture also produced the highest match aggregate in T20 history, totaling 549 runs across both innings.

Leading into the Bengaluru Fixture

The five-match series was tied 1-1 heading into the third T20I in Indore on 11 October 2026. India won the opening game in Lucknow by eight wickets after chasing down the West Indies' total of 171.

The visitors responded in the second T20I in Ranchi, winning by six wickets after chasing down India's 250-run target. Across both innings of that second match, a total of 501 runs were scored.

Indian captain Shreyas Iyer delivered a notable performance in the series opener, recording an unbeaten 102 off 43 balls to lead his side to victory in Lucknow.

Squad Compositions

For India, Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma opened the batting in the first match in Lucknow. Options among the squad include Samson, Sharma, and 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who are all named in India's group for the series.

Additionally, Naman Dhir was drafted into the squad as a replacement for Washington Sundar.

The West Indies squad is led by captain and wicketkeeper Shai Hope. Key players in their traveling party include Rovman Powell, Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd, Sherfane Rutherford, Akeal Hosein, Roston Chase, and Gudakesh Motie.
