Panthers put Xavier Legette on injured reserve

Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette has been moved to the injured reserve list due to a knee problem, ensuring a multi-game absence starting with this weekend's primetime matchup against Detroit. Legette suffered the ailment during a long reception in a second-week victory against Atlanta and sat out a subsequent defeat to Cleveland before this latest roster shift.

To help compensate for his absence and a questionable quad status for Jalen Coker, the franchise promoted wideout Ja'seem Reed from the practice squad. The team also called up cornerback Robert Rochell from the same unit following the placement of their top two starting cornerbacks on the injured list earlier in the week.
