California starting quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele left the matchup against the UNLV Rebels prior to halftime following a hard takedown by opposing linebacker Elias Rudolph that caused him to strike his head on the playing surface. Although the sophomore signal-caller attempted to rejoin his offense for the subsequent snap, teammate Ian Strong intervened and summoned medical personnel to check on him.
Prior to his departure, Sagapolutele connected on 19 of his 27 passing attempts for 195 yards, recording one touchdown and one interception, while Jackson Brousseau stepped in to finish out the remaining seconds of the half.
