Pakistan scripted one of the most dramatic finishes in ODI history by chasing down a daunting 326-run target against Sri Lanka in the 2026 tri-series final at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The victory not only secured their second tri-series title—18 years after their first in 2008—but also matched India’s iconic 2002 Lord’s record for the highest successful run chase in an ODI final.
Fakhar Zaman’s unbeaten 127 set the tone, though Pakistan’s lower order, including a crucial 94-run partnership between Arafat Minhas and Hasan Nawaz, ensured the triumph with three wickets and nine balls remaining. Sri Lanka had posted 325 thanks to a dominant third-wicket stand of 146 between Kamindu Mendis (131) and Pavan Rathnayake (77), making the chase appear near-impossible at times.
The win also served as redemption for Pakistan, who had lost a home tri-series final to New Zealand just a year earlier in 2025.
