Nick Saban says he was offered Giants job in 1997

During a radio appearance, legendary coach Nick Saban revealed that the New York franchise attempted to hire him following the dismissal of Dan Reeves in 1997. While leading Michigan State, Saban covertly hosted executive George Young at his personal residence to discuss the potential position without disrupting his current roster management and recruitment efforts.

Although he ultimately declined the offer, Saban later acknowledged that the professional opportunity had indeed been extended to him during that period. The organization instead appointed Jim Fassel to the position, who eventually guided the squad to a championship appearance several years later.
