The New York Jets’ struggles continued in a disheartening 38–33 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday at MetLife Stadium, where their defense once again failed to mount a serious challenge. The Jets started the game with a promising offensive burst, moving the ball deep into Raiders territory with a long pass to Garrett Wilson and two strong runs by Braelon Allen.
However, the offense stalled at the Raiders’ 2-yard line, settling for a field goal to take a 3–0 lead—only for the Raiders to respond with a quick touchdown pass from Kirk Cousins to Brock Bowers, who outmuscled Jets cornerback Travis Brownlee. The Jets briefly regained the lead in the first quarter with a methodical drive capped by a Geno Smith touchdown pass to Isaiah Williams, but the defense’s inability to stop the Raiders’ offense became glaringly obvious when Dylan Laube returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, tying the game at 14–13.
The Jets’ offense kept them in contention with two more scores—including a Smith touchdown to Adonai Mitchell—but the Raiders’ relentless attack, highlighted by Cousins’ second touchdown pass to Bowers, ultimately proved too much. By halftime, the Jets led 23–14 after scoring on every offensive drive, but the Raiders’ third-quarter surge exposed the Jets’ defensive vulnerabilities once again, sealing their latest embarrassing defeat.
