New Orleans Saints News: Saints lose a close one in Detroit

The New Orleans Saints commenced their 2026 campaign with heartbreak on September 13, dropping a 31-30 overtime thriller against the Detroit Lions at Ford Field. After falling behind 21-0, quarterback Tyler Shough orchestrated an impressive rally to erase the three-touchdown deficit, though New Orleans was unable to complete the turnaround following an unsuccessful two-point try.

Playing without injured pass rusher Cam Jordan, the visiting defense managed to bring down Jared Goff only once throughout the contest.

Following the opening-week setback, the 0-1 Saints will head on the road once again to face the Baltimore Ravens, who currently sit at 1-0. Meanwhile, Goff brushed off Detroit's blown advantage as the Lions secured the win to start their year.
