NBC Claims Record Audience for Start of WNBA Finals

NBC reported that the opening game of the 2026 WNBA Finals between the Golden State Valkyries and the Atlanta Dream had the highest viewership numbers in history for a Game 1.

After starting the series 0-1, Atlanta secured their first-ever Finals victory by defeating Golden State 79-65 in Game 2 at the Chase Center. This win, led by Angel Reese, ended a 16-year drought of Finals losses for the Dream, who had previously been 0-10 in such matchups.

The series is now tied at 1-1 as it moves to Atlanta for Games 3 and 4.
