The NFL handed out fines to six players in Week 6 for violations of player safety rules, including a notable penalty against Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick was assessed a $17,911 fine for a hit that left Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (originally listed as KC Concepcion in the source) concussed in Week 5, knocking him out of the game.
Kelce has since cleared concussion protocol and is set to face the Ravens this week. Fitzpatrick also received an $11,941 fine for a facemask tackle on Kelce earlier in the same game.
Other players fined included Colts linebacker Austin Ajiake ($5,583) and 49ers safety Malik Mustapha ($6,998) for hits on defenseless players, while Ravens defensive tackle Nnamdi Madubuike ($17,911), Lions defensive end D.J. Wonnum ($12,611), and Titans cornerback Micah Robinson ($5,583) were penalized for hip-drop tackles.
These infractions mark the first violations for each player, with the league’s policy allowing for suspensions after three such fines under specific safety rules.
