New Zealand Cricket has confirmed that all-rounder Michael Bracewell will transition to a casual contract with the national team, clearing the path for his participation in Australia’s Big Bash League. The 35-year-old, who has focused exclusively on white-ball cricket, expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, emphasizing his commitment to representing New Zealand in upcoming series, including the tour against India.
His move follows the announcement that Nick Kelly will take over Bracewell’s central contract, having already established himself in the national side with eight ODIs and seven T20Is under his belt since his debut in March 2025. Bracewell joins a growing list of casually contracted players for New Zealand, including Finn Allen, Mark Chapman, Lockie Ferguson, Adam Milne, and Tim Seifert, ahead of the 2026-27 season.
