McSweeney credits YouTube study of Kohli and Smith for Australia A's series win in India

October 12, 2026

Australia A secured a hard-fought 2-1 ODI series victory over India A in Puducherry, concluding on October 11, 2026. The series was decided by a narrow margin, with the final match ending in Australia A’s favor.

Nathan McSweeney emerged as the standout performer, amassing 194 runs across the three games at an impressive average of 64.66 and a strike rate of 83.62. His consistent run-scoring, particularly in challenging spin-dominated conditions, earned him the Player of the Series accolade.

McSweeney credited his success to meticulous preparation, including studying footage of elite batters like Virat Kohli and Steve Smith to refine his approach against India’s spin attack.

Todd Murphy, who captained Australia A in the decisive third ODI, highlighted the team’s disciplined bowling strategy as a key factor in their victory. Fast bowlers such as Mahli Beardman, Spencer Johnson, Ben Dwarshuis, and Riley Meredith delivered impactful performances, while Mitch Owen troubled Indian batsmen with his aggressive pace.

Murphy praised the team’s ability to take wickets through the middle order, a tactic that proved crucial in securing the series win. Despite falling short of a 3-0 sweep, the 2-1 result was described as a satisfying outcome, with the fast bowlers’ dominance and adaptability in tough conditions standing out as standout highlights.
