McLaren to put five F1 cars, including a Senna icon, up for sale

October 19, 2026

McLaren is auctioning five of its most historic Formula 1 cars, including a 1991 MP4/6A driven by Ayrton Senna in his final championship-winning season. The collection spans three decades of the team’s legacy, featuring two MP4/6A chassis (No.

4 and No. 7), the 1992 MP4/27A—which secured seven race victories—and modern challengers like the 2021 MCL35M (which won the Italian Grand Prix) and the 2023 MCL37A (later renamed MCL60), which earned nine podiums.

The sale, handled by Tom Hartley Jr., follows McLaren’s decision to retire these cars from storage, citing a desire to honor their racing heritage through new ownership. Senna’s 1991 MP4/6A stands out as a key piece, marking his third and final title in Formula 1, while the 2021 car also represents McLaren’s return to Mercedes power after a period with Renault and Honda engines.
