McBurnie & seven uncapped names in Scotland squad

New Scotland manager Sebastien Pocognoli has announced his opening roster, highlighted by the return of Hull City attacker Oli McBurnie following a five-year international absence. The 30-year-old, who debuted in 2018 and earned the last of his 16 appearances in 2021, remains scoreless for the national team but notably converted an attempt during the decisive shootout that secured qualification for Euro 2020.

Pocognoli also handed inaugural call-ups to seven uncapped players: Jon McCracken, Josh McPake, Stephen Welsh, Brondby's 25-year-old defender Luis Binks—who previously represented both Scotland and England in youth setups—and 20-year-old Celtic defender Colby Donovan, who has impressed while stepping in for the injured Alistair Johnston after earlier featuring for Scotland's under-19 and under-21 squads.

Stoke City's Luke Graham and Sevilla forward Robbie Ure are the other newcomers receiving their maiden senior nods, alongside recalls for Scott Bain, Josh Doig, Lennon Miller, and James Wilson. Graham, a 22-year-old with three under-21 caps, joined pre-World Cup preparations in May following a standout season at Dundee—where he claimed both the young player and players' player accolades—before sitting on the bench during a victory over Curacao that marked Steve Clarke's farewell fixture as manager; he has since played every minute of Stoke's current four-match unbeaten Championship run.
