Manzambi catches eye as Villa beat Spurs - player ratings

Aston Villa claimed victory over Tottenham Hotspur in a fixture highlighted by a standout display from Manzambi, who beat Jan Paul van Hecke to fire home the breakthrough goal. Spurs suffered an early blow when Pedro Porro limped off after 18 minutes, and Micky van de Ven had to step off the pitch due to a facial strike just as Villa found the net.

Tottenham failed to capitalize on early chances, with Villa goalkeeper Zion Suzuki pulling off key stops against Savio and replacement Archie Gray, while Mohammed Kudus saw an effort ruled out due to an offside call against Andrew Robertson.

Villa secured the triumph despite Van Hecke and substitute Conor Gallagher grabbing late consolations for Spurs, marking Gallagher's second strike in consecutive matches. Tottenham manager introduced James Maddison, Lucas Bergvall, and Kudus from the bench while removing Mateus Fernandes at the interval, but Dominic Solanke's league scoring drought stretched back to March alongside a quiet showing from Manchester City loanee Omar Marmoush.

For Villa, Aaron Wan-Bissaka was substituted at half-time following an unsteady half, while Matteo Ruggeri made his full Premier League debut alongside defensive shifts from Tyrone Mings and Victor Lindelof.
