New York Knicks owner James Dolan will host a high-profile Republican fundraiser at Madison Square Garden on October 15, just before the team’s preseason opener against the Toronto Raptors. The event, with ticket prices starting at $10,000, marks Dolan’s continued political engagement, as he and his family have contributed over $1.4 million to support GOP gubernatorial candidate Bruce Blakeman’s campaign, including donations to super PACs backing his bid.
Despite trailing incumbent Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul by 12 points in recent polling, Blakeman has framed Dolan’s endorsement as a key asset, citing the owner’s business acumen and past success in sports and politics. The fundraiser follows Dolan’s past ties to the Republican Party, including hosting a major rally for then-candidate Donald Trump at the arena during the 2024 election cycle.
Blakeman’s connection to Dolan extends beyond fundraising, as he was previously a guest in Dolan’s suite during a 2026 NBA Finals game featuring the Knicks and San Antonio Spurs, where Trump also attended.
