Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. suffered a late-game rib injury during Sunday’s 30–23 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on *Sunday Night Football*, forcing him out of overtime.
The hit came from Ravens linebacker Tavius Robinson late in regulation, leaving Penix unable to continue after briefly exiting for one play. Though he attempted to return, the pain intensified as the Falcons fell behind, and he ultimately sat out the team’s overtime drive while Tua Tagovailoa took over.
Penix later admitted the discomfort made it impossible for him to contribute effectively, even testing throws from the sideline to assess his readiness. Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski indicated further medical evaluation will determine Penix’s return timeline, with the quarterback expressing frustration over another early exit in a season marked by repeated setbacks.
