During their current bye week, the Kansas State Wildcats are reflecting on a memorable historical victory ahead of their upcoming October 10 matchup against the Houston Cougars. Fifteen years ago on October 1, then-quarterback Collin Klein delivered one of the program's signature triumphs by engineering an upset against the fifteenth-ranked Baylor Bears.
In that contest, Klein went head-to-head with opposing quarterback Robert Griffin III, who later claimed the Heisman Trophy. Although Griffin posted massive passing statistics through the air, Klein countered with an impactful dual-threat performance totaling 359 yards and three scores.
Trailing by nine points midway through the fourth period, Klein ignited a crucial seventy-yard scoring march to narrow the deficit. Shortly thereafter, linebacker Arthur Brown intercepted Griffin for his first turnover of the year, setting up a go-ahead field goal that secured the win.
Now leading the program from the sideline, Klein aims to guide the Wildcats back to those historic heights.
