Fenway Sports Group is evaluating a potential acquisition of a majority interest in the Cadillac Formula 1 team, an operation currently valued at 2.24 billion pounds. The current owner, Mark Walter, is considering this divestment amid ongoing legal scrutiny from federal authorities regarding his financial management practices.
While the group already maintains a half-share in an RFK Racing NASCAR entry, they face competition from several other interested bidders for this F1 stake. Cadillac is currently struggling at the back of the grid, having failed to earn any points during their inaugural season, with their highest finish being a 13th place effort by Valtteri Bottas in China.
The team is currently assessing whether to promote Colton Herta to replace Bottas, with Herta scheduled for a practice session at the upcoming race to finalize his superlicence requirements. Sergio Perez has already secured a contract extension with the team that runs through the end of the decade.
