The newly established women's Lions side will launch their historic touring schedule against France, marking only the second time a Lions squad has ever played that opponent following a men's friendly in Paris during 1989. Committee chair Carol Isherwood expressed enthusiasm for the opening fixture, noting the ambition to inspire future generations across England, Scotland, Wales, and Ireland.
Organizers evaluated international destinations before selecting Cardiff for the send-off match, citing local backing and stadium capacity following a record-breaking attendance of 21,186 during a previous women's fixture. The wider itinerary will subsequently take the squad to New Zealand for a five-match program featuring Test fixtures located in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch, building upon a tradition of men's expeditions that dates back to 1888.
