Jack Leach not on England radar for Bangladesh tour, says selector Marcus North

Marcus North has indicated that thirty-five-year-old left-arm spinner Jack Leach is absent from current consideration for England squad selections leading into the February Test tour of Bangladesh. Although Leach has claimed eighty-eight wickets at an average of twenty-one point seven three over the past two domestic seasons for Somerset in Division One, national leadership is pivoting toward a different strategy for slow bowling.

Selection panels have awarded central agreements to Shoaib Bashir and Rehan Ahmed, while development contracts were assigned to Mason Crane, James Coles, and Liam Patterson-White. Richard Dawson has assumed duties as national spin-bowling lead under head coach Stephen Fleming to guide future planning ahead of matches in South Africa and a 2028 series in India.
