Leicester Tigers staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Gloucester 38-31 at their home ground, securing their first victory of the season. The Tigers trailed early after early tries by Gloucester’s Jac Morgan and Dian Bleuler, compounded by Leicester’s Billy Searle being sin-binned in the second minute for a knock-on.
However, Finn Carnduff, Joe Heyes, and Jamie Blamire scored tries before halftime to turn the game around, with Leicester leading 21-14 at the break. Gloucester fought back in the second half with tries from Aaron Wainwright, Ollie Hassell-Collins, and Will Trenholm, but Leicester’s resilience—including a late penalty from Searle—ensured their 17-point win.
Gloucester earned bonus points after Jack Innard’s try and George Barton’s 82nd-minute penalty, though they remain top of the Premiership. The match also held special significance, as Leicester retained the Slater Cup, named after former Gloucester and Tigers captain Ed Slater, who retired in 2022 after an MND diagnosis.
Prince Harry’s attendance added to the occasion at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
