Laxman Sivaramakrishnan, the former Indian leg-spinner who made his Test debut at 17, has been appointed as the spin bowling coach at the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Cricket Academy. The 60-year-old, who once took match figures of 12 for 181 against England in Mumbai, will lead a structured coaching programme at the Fulung facility in North Guwahati, starting his one-year contract in November 2026.
His appointment follows a demonstration session held at the academy in October 2026, where he shared his expertise on leg-spin techniques, impressing the association enough to formalise the role quickly. Beyond his playing career—where he claimed 26 Test wickets and 15 in ODIs—Sivaramakrishnan brings governance experience, having served on the ICC Cricket Committee as a player representative.
His move to coaching marks a shift after stepping away from BCCI commentary in 2026, citing limited opportunities.
