Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix suffered a rib injury late in Sunday’s 28–24 overtime loss to the Baltimore Ravens but avoided any serious damage, according to multiple reports. The setback occurred on a sack during the Falcons’ final drive of regulation, forcing Penix to miss one play before returning briefly.
After the Ravens took the lead in overtime, head coach Kevin Stefanski opted to insert Tua Tagovailoa, who completed his first two passes of the 2026 season before throwing an interception to end the game. Penix, who finished 19-of-32 for 240 yards and a touchdown, suggested afterward that he might have stayed in the game had the Falcons started overtime.
Stefanski declined to comment on Penix’s availability for Week 6, instead stating he would reassess after giving the quarterback time to recover. The Falcons now face the Chicago Bears in their next contest, with Penix’s status remaining uncertain until at least Wednesday.
