Indiana’s No. 7 Hoosiers secured a hard-fought 20-17 road win over Nebraska on Saturday, snapping a 31-game losing streak for the Cornhuskers against Top 25 teams.
The victory came down to a clutch fourth-and-1 play, where quarterback Josh Hoover faked a handoff before launching a 44-yard touchdown pass to Nick Marsh, who broke free in the open end zone. Marsh’s play capped a second-half surge that erased a 17-6 deficit, including a late Nebraska touchdown run by quarterback Anthony Colandrea.
Indiana’s defense stifled Nebraska’s rushing attack, limiting stars Turbo Richard and Lee Beebe Jr. to combined gains of just 41 yards on 17 carries, while Hoover finished 12-of-22 for 263 yards and six Marsh receptions for 187 yards.
The win extended Indiana’s streak to 22 consecutive games, marking their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter. Nebraska coach Matt Rhule, now winless in 21 consecutive games across his tenures at Baylor and Nebraska, admitted disappointment after the loss, while Indiana coach Curt Cignetti praised his team’s resilience in overcoming a halftime deficit for their third Big Ten win of the season.
