UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones has expressed deep regret over missing the chance to compete at the UFC’s historic White House card in June. The Freedom 250 event, held on the White House lawn, was one of the most anticipated in MMA history, but Jones was ultimately barred from participating due to internal UFC politics.
Dana White, the UFC CEO, had publicly questioned Jones’ suitability to headline the event because of his past controversies. Additionally, UFC officials could not meet Jones’ demand for a $15 million superfight against Alex Pereira, leaving the door closed for his involvement.
Jones, who rarely voices regret, called his exclusion one of the biggest disappointments of his career during a recent interview. Fans and analysts alike had hoped to see the widely regarded greatest fighter in UFC history take part in the landmark event, but the opportunity slipped away amid negotiations and organizational decisions.
