The NFL handed out its highest single-week total of fines for dangerous player safety violations in Week 4, issuing 10 penalties that could escalate to suspensions. Among the infractions, Ravens linebacker Trenton Simpson and Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick each faced the maximum $17,911 fine for illegal horsecollar tackles, while Lions linebacker Jack Campbell and Seahawks safety Nick Emmanwori were penalized for hip-drop tackles.
The league also targeted hits on defenseless players, fining Cowboys cornerback Reddy Steward, Texans cornerback Kamari Lassiter, and Rams linebacker Nate Landman for dangerous contact. Additional penalties included fines for Browns defensive tackle Adin Huntington, Jets defensive end Darrell Jackson, and Broncos offensive lineman Ben Powers, all for violations that could trigger automatic suspensions if three or more occur in a category.
Players have the option to appeal the fines, which range from $5,583 to $17,911 depending on the severity of the infraction.
