Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has climbed to 35th on the all-time Test wicket-taking list after dismissing Aiden Markram during the third Test against South Africa. This 312th career scalp allowed him to overtake the 311-wicket marks previously held by Indian legends Ishant Sharma and Zaheer Khan.
Hazlewood reached this milestone in only 81 matches, maintaining a superior bowling average of 23.91 and an economy rate of 2.78 compared to his predecessors. Earlier in the series, the Australian pacer secured career-best figures of 6/49 at Kingsmead, which proved instrumental in a 214-run victory for his side.
His recent climb also saw him surpass several other notable bowlers, including Brett Lee, Fred Trueman, Morne Morkel, and Lance Gibbs.
