Jos Buttler scripts history, becomes first player in the world to achieve massive T20 feat with whirlwind cameo vs SL

Jos Buttler made cricket history by becoming the initial batter to reach 15,000 career T20 runs, surpassing Kieron Pollard's total of 14,999 to claim the format's all-time run-scoring lead. The former England skipper reached the milestone in 528 appearances—significantly faster than Pollard's 742 or 754 games—behind a quickfire 30 runs off 16 deliveries.

Buttler, who previously registered 80 runs during the series opener, now stands ahead of Pollard, Alex Hales (14,581), Chris Gayle (14,562), and David Warner (14,284) in the global run charts.

His milestone came during the second T20I, where England secured an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series with a six-wicket victory over Sri Lanka. After choosing to field, the English attack restricted the visitors to 145 for 9, overcoming an initial 56-run opening stand between Pathum Nissanka (37) and Lahiru Udara; Liam Dawson led the bowling with 3 for 32 alongside two wickets apiece from Jofra Archer and Jamie Overton.
